afterdark

October 02, 2006

アフターダークアフターダーク村上 春樹Thanks to the work done in r13, now I’m able to write a review about books in Amazon.jp. YAY!

“afterdark” is Murakami’s newest long story available as in paperback now. Even if it’s a long story format, the length of the story is actually a little short: 200 pages or so.

The story goes on by mixing 2 different stories, both of which is related to each other. It’s the format Murakami is good at writing, as seen in “Hardboiled wonderland and the end of the world” or “Kafka on the shore”.

It sounds like the story is going on at Shibuya. It doesn’t have an explicit mention about the place, but the description of various places like the faimily restaurant and “Love hotels” definitely sounds Shibuya-ish. The conversations that took place sound very weird but wonderful also, just like other Murakami stories.

It’ll be a very quick read: I finished it in 2 hours but it made me feel some refreshing.
