Tax return mail for CA not going through?

April 05, 2007

On March 27 I mailed Tax return for Federal (IRS) and CA, both as First-Class mail as certified. On USPS.com you can track the delivery using the certified ID. I received the notification that IRS received it as follows:

Delivered, April 03, 2007, 3:41 am, AUSTIN, TX 73301

But for CA tax return, it stlil shows:

Status: Acceptance

The U.S. Postal Service has received electronic notification from our Automated Postal Center (APC) on March 27, 2007 to expect your package for mailing.

So it’s not even at arrival nor pick-up yet. It’s already more than a week and am bit worried. I can’t get back to United States until 4/17, which is past the deadline of filing.

**UPDATE: **per suggestion by Stuart, I checked the refund status on the CA FTB site and it says “Your refund was authorized on April 11th, 2007”. Yay! So it’s just a problem with USPS notification system I guess?
