Things I'll miss from Japan
So the short stay back in Tokyo would end tomorrow. I’ll fly to Taipei (I wonder why lots of my friends in America recognize it as China) on this weekend to attend to OSDC.tw conference. Since this was the first stay since I’m moved to the U.S. I’ve been finding a couple of things that I’ll miss when I come back there.
- The real high-speed internet connection. 50Mbps up/down FTTH is super. My apartment in San Fran very fortunately has 16Mbps up/down available, and that’s not a huge difference though.- Very convenient “convenience stores” and Delivery site “出前館”. One night my girlfriend and I came back home 11:30 pm and the Shabu^2 restaurant we wanted to go was closed. So we checked 出前館 to see which delivery services are still available, and found Pizza-la was, and then picked the pizza we liked and submitted a form with my password. 15 minutes later the pizza was delivered. No phone call involved in the process. How convenient! No need to worry about the food when you miss your dinner around 11pm, or even later.- Pollen and Asian dust from China that makes me Hay Fever. Thanks and good bye!- Annoyingly crowded commuters train. My current nearest station 武蔵小杉 is pretty handy and I can avoid most of the crowds when I don’t need to go to the office right in the morning, but I still have to, sometimes. There maybe more. But I can think of these for now. I’ll be back on late June or early July, possibly after YAPC::NA.
