Android M’s Doze feature seems to work very well. When the phone is put on the desk with a strong wi-fi connection, the phone only consumes about 2% per hour, which is a significant jump from the previous releases.
However if I walk out for an hour with my phone in the pocket, it puts the phone in “Awake” mode all the time, and drains the battery a whole lot more — I wonder if it’s a bug. I’ll see how it works out over the coming iterations of preview releases for M.
