the Yeti is a condenser mic. However, it has an on-board gain control as well as an option for a very tight pattern that makes the Yeti an excellent podcast mic. It, too, has a headphone passthrough just like the podcaster.Looks like I’m on the right track using Blue Yeti for my podcast. Since it’s a condenser mic it tends to pick up the ambient noise, like when a car or chopper makes noise outside my apartment, even with the cardioid setting. But that can be reduced to minimal with the editing and noise gate tweaks.

Rode podcaster sounds like a really nice upgrade, but the boom and arm stand looks like a little too big for my small desk.
