2nd day at New York

35765800_38e20c3156jpg.jpg Saturday, I walked around the SoHo to get some gifts and at the evening we went to the musical Beauty and the Beast. It was pretty comical and emotional at last. Around the Times Square it was pretty similar to what we have in Tokyo, Shinjuku. I like it.

TypePad new feature

Yay, the last Thursday we had a pretty big release for TypePad. Most of the features are done in the Hackathon and I took a part of Podcasting support. Everybody loves new features obviously.

Trip to New York

35504937_1ba18ce902jpg.jpg This weekend I had a short trip to New York. I left San Francisco on 10pm and got to NY (JFK) on 6am. It was a tough red-eye trip but I thought it was the most efficient way to get there. On the first day I met with Natsuemon along with a friend from Japan and hanged around the Empire State Buiding, Ground Zero, MoMA and Ferry cruise.

More pinging stuff, as written in blog-style

Brad released a prototype for Atom Stream server for LiveJournal today, Ben was working on TypePad to support the upstream push from TypePad weblogs. Hence I spent a couple of minutes to write a consumer library: XML::Atom::Stream. It uses SAX based XML parser (XML::SAX::ParserFactory) and splices the stream into individual s, with which you can do whatever you want.

Dogs at Umeda-san's place

34125295_ceaa7cf80fjpg.jpg We had a private party at Umeda-san’s place in Mountain View. Topic of the talks are our life in US and mostly about the dogs: Jack (by Umeda-san) and Kurumi (by Ejima-san). They differ a lot in their sizes, just like Major and Stella in Six Apart. However in this case, the bigger is a man (er, dog) and smaller is a girl.

Back to School Party

33972616_708dcfb141jpg.jpg I got to Mie & Ezra’s place thanks to Garth, for the “Back to School” party. They got dancing like dance hall around the midnight, possibly to the morning I guess. Pretty interesting to meet a lot of people. Oh, and they have a rule to get off shoes at the entrance like Japanese style. That makes me kind of relaxed.

Japan Town festival

33971453_ce8a567167jpg.jpg I went down to Japan Town to see Nihonmachi Annual Festival. There was a lot of Food shops on the street and a couple of entertainment stuff like some Bands and Taiko artists. I’ve got a pretty cheap Sushi inside the mall and had some new books at Kinokuniya.

Major & Mocha

33970598_4804ff9620jpg.jpg On Friday we have a couple of dogs in the office. This week we had Mocha, Major and Stella. Major always gets reckless when he tries to get on Stella, which is so funny.

Odeo

29875908_1e4c55f43ajpg.jpg Friday after the FooBar, we went to Odeo, which is just 2 blocks away from us. They had a party that day and we went there to say hello. Their office is cool and seems like a typical startup company’s one.

Class::DBI list and Wiki closure

I don’t deny feeling a little sympathy to Tony about being flamed by people for his software (Class::DBI) and its development style these days. However, taking down the list and its archive along with Wiki content created by folks seems sort of insane to me.

Google Maps got a Hybrid page

Google Maps now has a Hybrid page like this: Google Maps - san francisco, which layers Street Maps on top of Satellite view. It rocks!
