Dapper, Pipes and Plagger: meta-Mashup

The launch of Yahoo! Pipes raised a lot of discussions of “similar services / products” and apparently a lot of people have found the similarity between Pipes and Dapper or Plagger.

Checkbook addresses

Lazyweb questions about the life in U.S.: I have a checkbook with the 6A’s address and updated my street address to the current apartment on BofA site a few weeks ago. Can I continue using the checks with the old address, or should I order new checks? It takes $13 to order and sounds ridiculous to do … (If so, I’ll revert back the street address change on the bank.)

VVD communications: 45 Mbps, $300/year (or $40/mon)

I got a posting in my mailbox today: VVD communications. They claim they serve 45Mbps $300/year or $40/month in limited residential buildings in the Bay Area, and my apartment is one of them.

JR songs

JR東日本 駅発車メロディメドレーIf you have ever been to Japan and got a ride on JR train, you might have noticed that JR plays some different “tunes” to alarm closing the door for each station. This guy plays the whole different songs and on Nico Nico Doga (the service that allows you “chat” over the video) annotates which station the song is played. So awesome.

Ellegarden - Eleven Fire Crackers

ELEVEN FIRE CRACKERSELLEGARDENIt took me this long (3 months) to get this album because iTunes doesn’t sell this album, but I’d say I should’ve bought this one right after the release. THIS ALBUM ROCKS!

Getting Real Translations

Not a big deal, but I guess I’m not the only one who noticed that 37 signals is using the possibly offensive filename for Japanese translation.

Yahoo Pipes

Plagger is a perl-based, open-source feed routing system, or so called “mash-up creator.” A couple of interesting sites, like CDTube (a mash-up of Count Down TV and YouTube) are powered by Plagger and it has been driving geeks to do some interesting bits with RSS/Atom/iCal feeds.

For Rachel and Nick

GA1651b1or whoever are curious about the babe in my desktop. This girl is Naoko Tokuzawa, one of the top fashion models in Japan. So cute, huh? She blogs with MT (well, probably she *doesn’t *do it directly, but her blog is powered by MT).

More lights

Today’s IKEA furnishings: Two (2) floor ramps, a bedside table, a table lamp and a sofa throw. Now I have more lights to live with, and can shut off the light on the ceiling which buzzes when I turn on. The good thing about mirrored walls is that it reflects the lights and make the room shinier.

Projector vs. DLP projection

Today I was froogling for 56 inch rear projection TV and found a really good candidate, Toshiba 56HM195 56-inch 1080p HD DLP TV with HDMI. It’s available as around $1200 and does 1080p HD TV with 2 HDMI inputs.
